Unit Description

The Respiratory Therapy Services include therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care.

Therapeutic services include oxygen therapy, small volume nebulizer with respiratory medications, chest physiotherapy, invasive and non-invasive ventilation therapy.

Diagnostic services include blood gas sampling, pulmonary function test, cardio pulmonary exercise test, sleep study, 6-minute walk test, calibration and maintenance of respiratory equipment.

Mission

The mission of Respiratory Therapy Division is to deliver quality patient care and continuous education for Respiratory Care and encourage clinical research within available resources.

Scope of Service
  • Oxygen Therapy
  • Nasal Cannula, Nonbreathing mask, Venturi mask, Simple Face Mask, Tracheostomy Mask, Aerosol Mask

  • Treatment
  • Small volume nebulizer, ultrasonic nebulizer, Incentive spirometry chest physiotherapy, delivery of Bipap, CPAP, continuous Aerosol Therapy.

  • Ventilator Care
  • Management, adjustments, weaning, airway care

  • Advance Invasive and Non-Invasive Ventilation
  • High Frequency Oscillator Nitric Oxide, Neutrally adjusted ventilatory assist (NAVA)

  • Blood Gas Sampling
  • Arterial, Capillary, Venous, Mixed Venous

  • Non-Invasive Monitoring
  • Pulse Oximetry, End-tidal CO2 monitoring

  • CPR
  • Ventilation, Compression, Blood Gas Sampling.

  • Transportation of Patient's
  • On oxygen therapy, On-life Support System a. Intra-hospital

  • Education and Training
  • Pre-operative patient training, outpatient training for respiratory medication and treatment

  • Calibration of Respiratory Therapy Equipment.
  • Generation of Respiratory Therapy Progress Notes.
  • Patients Assessments
  • Bedside Ventilatory Parameters
  • Peak Flow, Vital Capacity Flow Volume Loop Basic Pre/Post Bronchodilatory Spirometry

  • Pulomonary Function Testing
  • Spirometry, Body Plethysmography Single Breath Lung Diffusion

  • Poly Polysomnography (Sleep Study)
