
Unit Description
Medical Oncology Day Unit is located at the two corners of Medical 1 unit at Rooms 2171 and 2241 in the West Hospital building. Room 2171 is providing outpatient day services to female oncology and hematology patients, while at Room 2241, our patient day services are provided to male oncology and hematology services with small office connected to Room 2171 for both doctors and nurses running the Medical Oncology Day Unit.

Hours of Operation
07:30-16:30 (Sun-Thurs.) On weekends, the admitting medical resident will admit to the Oncology service after informing the consultant on call and discussing the plan
Ages of patients served
Adult patients who are above 12 years of age
To deliver the best quality of healthcare to all patients coming for outpatient chemotherapy and blood products or medications delivery or any other procedures needed e.g. Bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, paracentesis or review of patient’s laboratory results.
- Administration of chemotherapy or related medicine to both inpatient or outpatient oncology patients.
- Performing any needed procedure
- Bone marrow biopsy and aspiration
- Administration of any needed drugs
- Administration of Blood Products
- Consultation
- Provide support for patient and family during the course of patient’s treatment
- Provide education to the patients and their families about their diseases.
- Provide cancer education for the patients and society.
- Provide continuous medial education to staff in the Division, Medical Department and other department or division in the hospital.
- Use quality improvement measures to improve the service provided
