The Department of Medical Education oversees the training and educational needs of the undergraduate and qualified medical staff.

The department is also administratively responsible for the Interns, Medical Students and the Residency training programs that are recognised by the Saudi Council for Health Specialities and the Arab Board for Medical Specialities.
The department organises the weekly Grand Round and co-ordinates with external agencies for visiting lecturers.

To assist in these activities the department is supported by the three sections:
Medical library. This contains over 8,500 volumes, 1,000 items of audio-visual material and 360 journal titles.

Services offered are:

  • A Loan Service

  • Reference Service

  • Literature Search Services,

  • Medline search (abstract only),

  • Internet access.

  • Interlibrary Loan,

  • Bibliographic Service

  • Photocopying.

Medical Photography. This unit offers routine clinical photography of patients on the wards and the operating theatres, photography of flat artwork plus charts, books and radiological films, Digital photography, desk-top-publishing, computer generated slides (35mm), darkroom facilities and audio-visual services. Industrial and Public Relations photography are also offered. The services are available to Administration, Medical, Nursing and Technical staff.

Reprographics. This unit provides a bulk photocopying service using three Minolta machines. Throughput averages 65,000 copies per month. A laminating and binding service is also offered.
